Grills

The more you spend on your BBQ grill or BBQ smoker the more bells and whistles come with it. It’s always nice to have the best of everything, but unless you’re a serious ‘quer or compete professionally it’s more about the cooking techniques than what kind of barbecue equipment you own. What we all really want to accomplish is that perfectly colored, flavored, and moist piece of barbecue meat. We will go through the pros and cons of the various BBQ cookers so you can decide for yourself what piece of barbecue equipment fits your personal needs. The following examples are the most commonly used types of BBQ grills and BBQ smokers.

BBQ Charcoal Grill: A BBQ charcoal grill is the least expensive grill to own and operate. It’s pretty much the standard in the barbecue industry, whether you choose an open grill or a closed grill (lid attached) you really can’t go wrong. With both grill types you’re going to get those nice grill marks, smoky flavor, and is a pretty low maintenance barbecue grill.

BBQ Gas Grill: Most people that invest in a barbecue gas grill are looking more for convenience than a true barbecue experience. Gas grills have come a long ways over the years and thus you can find a very basic patio model with two burners all the way up to the ultimate outdoor kitchen complete side burners, infrared cooking systems and rotisseries with many more add-ons for your BBQ gas grill.

BBQ Electric Grill: These types of grills are convenient, clean, and their more environmentally friendly, unless of course you take into account the large amount of electricity they draw. The only real benefit I can see from a barbecue electric grill is that they come up to temperature fast, regulate the heat pretty good and rarely have flare ups.

BBQ Portable Grill: I have a couple different barbecue portable grills; I mainly use them when traveling with the family to the beach or a park and they’re perfect for tailgating. Barbecue portable grills are also a perfect solution for those who live or work in confined areas such as college dorms, apartments/condos and even some place of businesses.
